Good to know
a) Could it be that two words have been erroneously misplaced in the CD-Rom program?
Indeed in the CD-Rom program of the picturedictionary the words Waagerecht and Senkrecht were wrongly placed. They should have been placed vice-versa.
b) The included DVD, VCD, CD seems not to function
It is explicitly a CD-Rom as advertised. Therefore, it can only be used in Computers / MACs and no other playback devices. They may, because of heavyness and screening print on the CD-Rom, not be able to be read on all computers with finely calibrated CD-Rom drives. Before lodge a complaint, please try again with other computers.
c) Has there ever been another edition in a different format size with minor mistakes?
Yes, the first printed edition did include some minor mistakes such as wrong numbering on two pages and some minor spelling mistakes in the phonetic translation. Mistakes have been corrected and are no longer applicable for the second edition.
d) Was the picture dictionary once distributed under a different brand?
From 2000 to 2012 the book was sold under the label Malueang.
e) Is it possible to run the German Thai Multimedia Picture Dictionary in window mode instead of full screen mode?
Till Windows 7 it was possible to use the program in window mode. Depending on the update status of your operating system, it may still be possible to activate the window mode.
Proceed like this:
Try to activate the window mode by clicking the key combination [Alt] + [Enter], or [Windows] + [D].
If this does not help, try the following:
- Right-click on the program’s link on your screen.
- Then select Properties. There you will see the entry of the program file under Target; it ends with .exe”.
- After .exe” put a space and type the parameter -w / or -window or -windowmode.
- Means for the shortcut, which starts the program on right click –> properties at “Target” behind the path (e.g.: ” “C:\…\SEMGermanThaiMultimediaDictionary.exe””) add the parameter “-window”, which will then look like this:
- “C:\…\SEMGermanThaiMultimediaDictionary.exe” -window
f) Your program does not position the mouse pointer in the proper place, it seems that certain areas are unclickable.
In this case, it is not because of our program, but rather because the settings on your PC, desktop, laptop or notebook for better readability of the display in Windows 7 (and higher) have set the screen display to 125% (or more).
Solution:
- Right-click on the program’s link on your screen.
- Select the Compatibility tab.
- Click on Change high DPI settings.
- Here, check the box for High DPI scaling override.
- Application must be selected in the dropdown box below.
- Finally click on OK
Note – depending on your Windows version, you may also find the following after right-clicking on the application name in the tabs:
Properties –> Compatibility tab –> select the Disable scaling at high DPI check box.
In Windows 10, version 1703, and later versions of Windows, the text of the Disable scaling at high DPI option has been changed to Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: Application.
